6 Ways to Make Eyelashes Grow Longer

by Joan Wong

Eyelashes protect the eyes from small unwanted debris. Buuuutttt that’s not the only thing eyelashes do. Let’s be honest, we all want long, thick, and luscious lashes because they look gorgeous.

However, we are not all blessed with thick and long eyelashes. So we go for eyelash extensions and false eyelashes or we look for ways to grow our natural lashes. Here are 5 ways to help make eyelashes grow longer!

Do not rub or tug at lashes

First and foremost, DO NOT rub or tug eyelashes.

There are times when we unconsciously rub our eyes when waking up, when we get sleepy, or when our eyes are itchy. Let’s lessen those instances and be mindful of our habits.

Many tend to unintentionally pull their eyelashes when curling them. Remember, the roots of lashes are not too strong, to begin with, and they fall off easier compared to your hair.

Just remember, it is not recommended to curl eyelash extensions, but if it’s unavoidable, DON’T pull them. Open the curler slowly and be gentle in removing the curlers from lashes.

Find a good formulated mascara

Makeups like mascara can make lashes brittle and lose their shine. If wearing mascara is unavoidable, choose an eyelash-friendly mascara that is specially formulated for lash extensions.

Mascara for eyelash extensions is also a great choice. These mascaras are formulated to make them easier to remove without damaging your lash extensions and your natural eyelashes. Just remember to clean them gently and pat dry carefully using a soft and reusable face cloth.

Use lash serum

Eyelashes usually go through shedding, it’s called the eyelash growth cycle. But with the growing need for thick, long lashes and continuous technological advancement, we now have a lash serum that promotes growth, just like Max2Originale.

Some of the common ingredients lash serum contains are peptides, prostaglandin, and other hair conditioning ingredients like herb extracts. Each lash booster has its own ingredients and formulas but its goal is to help your eyelashes grow longer, stronger, and healthier.

How to use lash serum

  1. Apply serum on dry and clean lashes, preferably before going to bed without any makeup. This is to help lashes absorb the serum.
  2. Target the roots and not just the lashes. When the conditioning serum is applied to the lashes it makes them less brittle but if you also apply it to the roots, it will have a more lasting effect.
  3. Use ONLY once a day, preferably in the morning.

Apply lash sealant

There are many different reasons why eyelash extensions can fall out prematurely after leaving the salon. But to help with retention, use a lash sealant for extra protection from contaminants that work to break down lash glue such as dirt, moisture, and oil build-up.

For the best results, apply the sealant the way mascara is applied, from root to tip. Remember to use the sealant before putting on make-up.

It is important to note that lash sealants should be applied to classic lash extensions only.

Use a gentle makeup remover

Makeup is a good way to enhance features and cover imperfections. However, makeup is one of the leading causes of eyelash thinning.

For thicker, stronger, and longer lashes, it is best to use a gentle makeup remover, like Borboleta Makeup Remover, to clean lashes and the area around the eyes every day. Use a foam or gel cleanser for the best results. We suggest doing this with a soft makeup remover cloth to lessen the tension when drying lashes after washing.

You have to remember, eyelash roots are very fragile and not as strong as your hair roots at the top of your head. So, a “handle with care” mentality is necessary.

Apply olive oil, coconut oil or castor oil

For a more natural DIY method, use olive, coconut or castor oil to nourish lashes. Although there is not enough data supporting this method, all the oils contain natural ingredients like fatty acids which provide nutrients to your eyelashes keeping them hydrated.

These natural oils don’t necessarily help eyelashes grow but lessen the chances of lashes becoming brittle and breaking.

Whichever method is chosen, it is better to make sure it is 100% safe. For lashes that last longer and look their best, always use products that are specially formulated for eyelash extensions
